Frequently Asked Questions

How can you ensure the safety of my loved one if they are a fall risk or they wander?

Being a community of smaller houses, we can reach a lot more quickly and check on our residents far more often than large communities can. All doors leading outside are equipped with alarms triggered to alert aides upon opening. If a resident is at risk of falling, we have an array of different medical devices and equipment to limit this risk. For example, we have different types of bed alarms that will let us know if the resident is trying to get up – the same goes for wheelchairs and any other types of seating in the house. Our overnight staff are awake, alert and responsive for the duration of their shifts and check on residents throughout the night. We also keep medications locked up and the use of our MAR system allows staff to easily keep track of medication administration times and accuracy with a direct link to our pharmacy.

How well trained are your aides? What if a resident has something like a tube feed or a catheter?

All of our responsive and trusted Home Health Aides and Certified Nursing Assistants are trained in CPR and first aid. Many of our aides have extensive experience with all types of medical conditions and devices. If we were to have a resident that had a condition some of our aides were not familiar with, we use what are called “in-services.” In-services entail our owners visiting in person to teach all aides how to handle and care for whatever type of condition they will be managing. The owners are always on call if anyone has any questions or concerns. Our team members are inspired to be extremely responsive. They enjoy open lines of communication with residents and family members alike.

What is included in the price?

Unlike bigger communities that have a larger staff-to-resident ratio, our homes have small ratios and capacity limits. This means we give the level of extra attention and care all of our residents deserve. Unlike the bigger communities that will charge additional fees for showers, extra care, toiletries, etc., at Heartfelt Residential Care, everything is covered by our singular all-inclusive fee. This includes administering medications, laundry, shower products like shampoo and body wash, briefs, wipes, toothbrushes, and toothpaste, etc. When you add up all the extra fees bigger communities charge, our inclusive fee is often the better deal and less stressful for families who may have been providing these items in the past.
